🌱 Quick answers

Getting Started

How do I set up my first habit?

Create an account with email or Face ID/Touch ID, complete the short onboarding flow, and add your first habit — most families are up and running in under two minutes.

Does HabitTrail work on both iPhone and iPad?

Yes. HabitTrail is a universal app for iPhone and iPad, in portrait and landscape, with a layout that adapts to each device.

Can I add a habit tracking widget to my Home Screen or Lock Screen?

Yes — widgets are available in small, medium, and lock screen sizes, showing today's progress and streaks.

Family & Kid Mode

How do I invite family members?

Share your family's join code from Settings — codes are 8 characters (older 6-character codes still work).

How does Kid Mode work?

Kids use a simplified, gamified session gated by their own local PIN, separate from the parent's Face ID/Touch ID login — so kids can check off habits without access to family settings, billing, or other members' data.

My child forgot their PIN. What do I do?

A parent can reset a kid's PIN from within the main (parent-authenticated) app — open Settings and manage that child's profile. PINs are never stored in a recoverable form, so there's no "forgot PIN" self-service flow for kids by design.

Subscriptions & Billing

What's included for free?

The free plan is permanent and includes up to 5 habits, 2 kid profiles, and 1 active challenge — with no time limit and no expiring trial.

What does Premium include?

Premium removes those limits for your whole household — there's no separate "family plan" or per-child charge. Plans: Monthly ($6.99/mo), Annual ($39.99/yr, with a 14-day free trial), and Lifetime ($99.99, discounted for early adopters). Pricing is set in the App Store and may vary by region — see the paywall in the app for current prices.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings in the app and tap Manage Subscription — this opens Apple's subscription management directly. You can also manage it from your iPhone's Settings app under your Apple ID. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium access until the current period ends.

What happens to my data if my subscription lapses?

Nothing is ever deleted for falling below a plan limit. If you're over the free limits, extra habits are archived (still visible, still exportable) and extra family members become read-only until you re-upgrade or free up space — everything is restored automatically when you do.

I was charged but don't see Premium features. What now?

Try closing and reopening the app to refresh your entitlement. If that doesn't help, email us at habittrail.app@gmail.com with your purchase date and we'll help sort it out.

Your Data

Exporting and backing up your history is free for every user, forever — it's never gated behind a subscription.

Can I export my habit history?

Yes. Export a CSV or a full JSON backup any time from Settings. Restoring a backup only ever adds missing data — it will never delete a habit or un-complete a day you've already logged.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account to permanently delete your account and all associated family data from our servers. You can also email habittrail.app@gmail.com to request deletion.

How is my family's data kept private?

See our Privacy Policy for the full details on what we collect and how it's protected.

Troubleshooting

Reminders aren't showing up.

Open Settings > Reminder Health to see the status of your scheduled reminders and send yourself a test notification. iOS limits every app to 64 pending notifications, so an unusually large number of reminders can crowd each other out — Reminder Health will flag this.

A habit or completion isn't syncing across devices.

Check that every device is signed in to the same family and has an internet connection. Sync happens automatically in real time; if something still looks out of date after a minute, try closing and reopening the app.

I found a bug.

Please email habittrail.app@gmail.com with a description of what happened and, if possible, steps to reproduce it. Screenshots help a lot.
